In an age teetering on the edge of technological singularity, where art, AI and life blend in increasingly intimate and challenging ways, the audio-visual composition "(Prelude) The Automaton and the Silicon Cave" interrogates these intersections in a fully immersive, multi-sensory VR experience. This project weaves together the threads of human creativity, computational logic, and the allure of the digital unknown to create a thought-provoking exploration of our shared future. At the heart of the project lies the sonic tapestry created by various generative AI synthesis algorithms (RAVE - IRCAM) to craft a soundscape that challenges the traditional bounds of musical creation. It explores the liminal spaces where human invention gives way to machine autonomy, offering an ear-opening perspective on the notion of authorship and creativity in the AI era.
The composition consists of three main tracks, each contributing to the unfolding narrative of the VR experience. The first two tracks introduce participants to a mesmerizing sonic journey, as generative AI algorithms generate and manipulate sounds in real-time, defying traditional structures and conventions. These tracks evoke a sense of awe and contemplation, inviting participants to immerse themselves in a vast audio landscape where technological artifacts coexist with abstract structures and organic shapes. However, it is in the third track that the project undergoes a transformative shift. At this stage, the spectator transitions from being a passive observer to an active participant. The third track incorporates elements that allow participants to shape their perception of the composition. By engaging with the VR environment through gestures, movements, participants become co-creators, influencing the sonic elements and altering their own sensory experience, further blurring the line between the real and the virtual, the organic and the synthetic.(Prelude) The Automaton and the Silicon Cave
