From Heimdal to Heimdal is a collaborative project with Prerna Bishnoi on the local identity of the Norwegian town Heimdal. The town is going through a rapid post-war transformation as a suburb of the 'silicon fjord' Trondheim. The commercial strip of the town is build upon a swamp: a prominent site in Norwegian fairy tales.
The project plots a fictional futurist scenario between the town Heimdal in Norway and a possible settlement in the Heimdal crater on the planet Mars (existing). The first part of the project is presented in a small booklet with nine diagrams. Each diagram abstracts a specific transformation in our plot e.g. the transformation of the Heimdal swamp into a shopping mall, local gossips becoming a political quarrel, the nomenclature process of the crater and the (local) displacement of soil dissemminated globally.
The second part is a translation of the diagrams into a performance, established through a one week workshop with the actors and the artists.
